A few things about SURRENDER: THE UNEXPECTED SONGS...
SURRENDER has been adapted and expanded from it's use as a recurring theme in Andrew Lloyd Webber's SUNSET BOULEVARD.
CHANSON D'ENFANCE is from the musical ASPECT OF LOVE and this version was done for a proposed movie of the play.
MACAVITY and GUS are 2 songs from the musical CATS, which Miss Sarah was part of for a year. GUS also features a narration of part of the story by Sir John Gielgud.
PIANO is the italian version of the famous song MEMORY, also from CATS.
EVERYTHING'S ALRIGHT is from JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.
PIE JESU is from the original recording of REQUIEM. Miss Sarah redid the song for her album CLASSICS. It is one of my favorite. She sings it here with Paul Miles-Kingston and the Winchester Cathedral Choir. She sang it in the LA LUNA tour and it make me cry like a baby.
AMIGO PARA SIEMPRE is the song Andrew Lloyd Webber composed for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. Miss Sarah and José Carreras performed it live at the closing ceremony.
NO LLORES POR MI ARGENTINA is of course the spanish version of DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA.
GUARDAMI is the italian version of WITH ONE LOOK from SUNSET BOULEVARD.
THERE IS MORE TO LOVE is from ASPECTS OF LOVE.
WISHING YOU WERE SOMEHOW HERE AGAIN is from THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT is also from PHANTOM. The song was originally written for Miss Sarah as a piece called MARRIED MAN and was intended for ASPECTS OF LOVE. However, it ended up being a song the Phantom sings to Christine. In both EDEN and the LA LUNA concert tour, Miss Sarah has performed it.
The songs UNEXPECTED SONG, TELL ME ON A SUNDAY, NOTHING LIKE YOU'VE EVER KNOWN and THE LAST MAN IN MY LIFE are from the musical SONG AND DANCE, which Miss Sarah sung for the show's television premiere in 1984.
