La Luna: Live In Concert (World Tour 2000)
The dvd version of the LA LUNA concert is just simply stunning. It was directed by Bruce Gowers (Queen, Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin, Britney Spears, Academy Awards), and it was recorded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In all, the 42-city North American tour played to over 170,000 people. Including me here in Ottawa.
I did not really know what to expect when i went to see the concert but I must say I was floored by how beautiful a concert it was. Miss Sarah performed some of the LA LUNA songs of course, but she also did some of those PHANTOM OF THE OPERA numbers that keep being associated with her. She also had a very shy looking Josh Groban perform with her on THERE FOR ME, the song she originally did with Jose Cura.
And of course, she had me in tears when she did PIE JESU from Andrew Lloyd Webber's REQUIEM. That song has a very deep and personal meaning for me and I did not for the life of me think that she was going to do it on the tour.
An even bigger surprise was the magnificent NESSUN DORMA, with this amazing setting, it was just to die for !!! Then she outdid that with the very moving and beautiful DELIVER ME, another favorite song of mine.
However, the moment that had me picking my jaw up from the floor was A QUESTION OF HONOUR. I had never heard this song before. It is from the album FLY that was never released in North America so i did not know it.
Needless to say I was just stunned. It was just soooooooo well done and it is such a wonderful song that even now, everytime I watch the dvd, I get the goosebumps...
Of course the penguins still fear Miss Sarah will fall and hurt her bumbum but I think by now they have understood what the concept of a recording is.
And last but not least, she sang TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, again something I did not think she would do, as she must have sung that time a bezillion times...
Anyoooo, it was a fabulous evening and this dvd brings it all home again...
