The album CLASSICS...
CLASSICS (2001 Angel Records) with it's decidely different look is a BEST OF... album that combines some new songs with some older material and a few new recordings of some of Miss Sarah's better known classics. As I mention in the BEHIND THE SCENE page, this album was originally titled ANGELICA and was suppose to be the starting point for a series of concerts in Europe and Athens but that changed. At least, that's what I read.
I mentionned "different look" in the paragraph above because the album booklet has pictures of Miss Sarah wearing nothing more than a smile in some of them. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I was shocked when I looked at the booklet. The pengies just gasped and said she was "nekkid"... Needless to say, I keep the booklet away from them because every time they see it, they ask why people go naked... They are too young for that talk yet. I have to resort to saying that her laundry wasn't dry the day they took the pictures and the malls were closed. I was fine until we watched GONE WITH THE WIND. They wondered why Miss Sarah did not do like Scarlett O'Hara and make a dress out of the curtains. I said Miss Sarah has blinds. They went "oh" and that was the end of that for a while. The topic has not come back.
Anyooo, the album is just great and we got the Taiwan edition that has a vcd with it and videos of DANS LA NUIT, WINTERLIGHT and AVE MARIA and we love it. They love the little gold box the CD came in. I love the way AVE MARIA was done, just a light behind Miss Sarah moving back and forth.
The new version of NESSUN DORMA is now one of our favorite songs. We still cry every time we watch Miss Sarah singing it on EDEN or LA LUNA but this new recording, the added chorus at the end brings a very emotional song to an even greater end. It never fails to stir us.
The album also introduces the solo version of TIME TO SAY GOODBYE to American audiences for the first time. Better known as a duet with Andrea Bocceli, the solo recording of the now classic song had been available on the european market for several years. In both the EDEN and LA LUNA tour, Miss Sarah has chosen to end the concert by singing it. And everytime it brings down the house, first when the familiar music starts and then the standing ovation at the end.
I even got a poster of the album cover !!! The colors are so nice and it looks great. I don't have the room where I am living now but someday, I hope to have a large hallway for all my Miss Sarah posters. Although I'd trip on the penguins I'm sure because they would probably just stand there coooooing...
Anyoooo, for any new fan of Miss Sarah who would like a good start for a first album or as a gift, I'd say buy CLASSICS. It will be appreciated !!!
