The album THE SONGS THAT GOT AWAY...
This is Miss Sarah's second album, released by The Really Useful Record Co. Ltd. in 1989.
It was made by Miss Sarah once she completed her role of Christine in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. It was also produced by her then-hubby Andrew Lloyd Webber, shortly before he and Miss Sarah separated.
The album consists mainly of American and British songs from different musicals. Most of them had somehow not been recorded before, hence the album title.
The selection is quite diversed, including works by Noel Coward, Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Steven Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber and several others.
In a way, this foreshadows her later albums, a mixture of popular music with lesser known compositions.
One of our favorite songs on this album is MEADOWLARK...
Oh, and the penguins just love the album's cover picture because, again, Miss Sarah looks so young and sweet on it... I had a hard time getting the CD away from them to scan it, they just wanted to keep on hugging it... I almost got bitten at one point...
And I had to say no when they wanted to sit on the scanner and hold the CD booklet... I tell you, when they get started...
Bad, bad babies...
Anyooo, enjoy the music...
As always, just click on the red arrow beside a song title for its lyrics and a short musical clip in RealAudio format.
