The album THE VERY BEST 1990-2000...
THE VERY BEST 1990-2000 (2001 Eastwest Records) was the very first purchase I ever made on EBAY !!! I can still remember the day it arrived too. All the way from Germany !!! Such pretty stamps too. Everyone was telling me I was going to get ripped-off and never get anything when I bought it but I knew that one day that little blue album would find it's way to my mailbox.
And it did ! The pengies kept bugging the mailman to deliver it and I guess one day he did. They were beside themselves and starting hugging him and kissing him and squeezing him and all that. At least that's what he said in court when he sued me for 6 broken bones and mental cruelty.
But I didn't care, we had our CD !!!
This was the very first "BEST OF..." album for Miss Sarah, before CLASSICS. It is an import-only compilation that was done to complete her record contract with EASTWEST Records in Europe. As such, it is indeed a beautiful CD, filled with some of her best songs from TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, EDEN and FLY. There is also a live recording of CAPTAIN NEMO/LA MER that was taken from the ONE NIGHT IN EDEN dvd disc.
Just thinking about this one song, the way it was done for the tour, still gives me the shivers. When I play it, the pengies all start going "oooooouuuuuhhhhhhhh" and all.
Anyooo, it is indeed a favorite album of ours and although a lot of the songs were re-released on CLASSICS, this still remains my favorite "BEST OF..." album of Miss Sarah.
And I know the pengies like it too. They keep drawing the album cover's esoteric symbol in crayons on one another's little bellies. They can be such babies... It's when they wanted to borrow my sister's tractor to make crop circles with that motif that I said no.
